I think the Bow-miester is teething. At least I'm hoping that's what the increased interested in biting my hand can be credited towards.
We finally broke the habit of clawing me. My arms started to look normal again and not like I was trying to cut myself - seriously, my arms looked B.A.D. bad for a while. But now she bites and it HURTS!
It's not the playful biting she used to do when it didn't bother me because she had no teeth. She's pinching and scratching and I was fairly certain she broke skin the other night, but I have no vampire looking bite wounds, so I guess I'm ok.
Then yesterday I run home for lunch. I finish eating my PB&J (I'm obviously a gourmet chef at this age) and make my bed/put away all my clean clothes. I have extra time, so I'm laying on the bed playing with Bowie and she starts biting me again. I feel bad for leaving her home all day, so I let her continue when I notice blood all over my hand.
So of course I think she's cut me. I yell at her and make her stop. I wipe the blood off, but I can't find any battle wounds or where the blood is coming from. About this time I look over and see a bloody tooth on by bed.
YUCK!
At first I wasn't sure if it was a tooth our claw (they kind of look the same), but after upon further investigation of Bowie's mouth, it is indeed a tooth . It was her outer most 'fang' looking tooth. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be there or not, since she still had one on the other side. Just what I need, a cat with a missing tooth! (On the other hand, that doesn't sound so bad!)
She seems fine though, so when I come home from Bible Study last night I check to see how the healing process is going and notice that the same tooth on the other side of her mouth is now missing too!
I read this morning that it's common for kittens to loose their 'milk teeth' between 4-6 months. Bowie is right around 5 months now. AND they said that it's common for these teeth to be lost at the same time! She lost hers in the same day, so I think that's pretty close to being at the same time.
I put her little baby tooth on my night stand. The tooth fairy didn't come last night, so I think we'll have to put it under her pillow tonight. Maybe she'll remember to come tonight and bring Bowie something really cool. Like a new "Lady Gaga" since we can't find hers.
This picture was from last night when she was laying on my lap, practically begging me to turn the TV off so she could go to bed. I love that time of an evening because she's so snuggly. :)
but she's so darn cute

Growing Up
She's getting big on me. I don't like it.
These are just a few pictures from when I first got her in late May to mid-June. She's huge now.
I want my teeny-tiny kitten back.
But I am enjoying her sleeping through the night. But not her ability to jump on anything and everything. You can't leave your plate sitting down anywhere anymore. She's in to everything!
It was so adorable when she had to gather up courage to jump from the couch to the coffee table.
Ahhhhhh......now I know how mom's feel when their babies grow up!
When she still had to eat and sleep in the bathroom. :) |
Just taking a little cat nap! |
More snoozing. |
"This looks like a good place to ride for an hour! I'll have a good view!" |
All ready for her date with Wembly. |
Mom has on pretty polish on her toes. I wish she painted my nails. Instead, she just trims them. :( |
"Mama, I'm sorry I wake up up every. single. night. at 4am!" |
"You're telling me I have to live with two other animals all week?" |
"We've been taking pictures for an hour mom. Let's put the camera away!" |
"Living with these two isn't really that bad. Wembly cleans me and Oliver wants me to be happy all the time, so I don't have to do anything while I'm here!" |
"The life of chasing a fly." |
"I do not want my picture taken. Again!" |
"Mom had this nice girl come visit. I liked to attack her bangs." |
I thought she was big here! I'd love to have that little kitten back! |

Cozy Bed
When I first got Bowie, she had a shoe box in the bathroom with a few towels in it as a bed. I know she slept in there because she would be in it when I went in there in the morning.
Then I started letting her have free roam of the house at night I assumed she'd sleep on the foot of my bed, the couch or one of the chairs. I mean, this would make sense, right? Nope.
She sleeps on my end table.
That's where she goes when she gets sleepy at night and every time I come home she's there too.
The girl is nuts. She liked sleeping in Oliver's dog bed last week and on the foot of the bed at Brittany's, so I don't know why she doesn't pick somewhere softer to sleep at home.
The girl is nuts.
But she's so darn cute.

Feed Me!
This was a post I wrote on my other blog about 1.5 weeks ago. It still applies.
I've been a fur mama for one week now.
And I've never found a meme on Pinterest so SPOT ON of my life EVER!
Last night Bowie and I fell asleep on the couch. I woke up around 1:30am and went to bed. She followed behind me and decided it was time to play.
If she would just sleep at my feet it would be awesome. But she wants to snuggle right up next to my face. Not my arm or let, right in my face. The back of my head won't even do. I roll over, she moves. OMG.
So after 15 minutes of annoyment, I move her out and shut my bedroom door. I give up and give her free roam of the house. At this point, I would rather her pull my curtains down and just let me sleep.
Nope. She doesn't want to freely roam around my house, she wants back in my bedroom. So she scratches and whines outside my bedroom door until I can't take it anymore.
She's hungry. It's now 3:30am. So I open that stinky wet cat food that her vet gave me and she runs to her dish and starts eating. I shut her in the bathroom and turn out the light. Shut my bedroom door and turn on the fan to drown out the whining and sleep until my alarm has gone off for twenty minutes.
If she wasn't so darn cute she would have been on craiglist this morning.
I am never having a baby!

Meet Bowie
I designed this blog for those of you that care to follow the day to day happenings of my adorable cat, Bowie.
Basically, this blog is for Abra. :)
And here is the background on my adorable kitten:
She was born, well, I really have no idea. Two weeks ago the vet guessed her to be around 6 weeks, so that would make her about 8 weeks now. She isn't quite 2 lbs yet, so she doesn't have any of her shots, but at our vet visit we did find out that she doesn't have feline cancer or aids and she has no parasites! yay!
My friend Tricia found her outside of her work place and when she posted this picture of Facebook I fell in love with that adorable little face. My dad calls her half-n-half.
Which brings me to her name, Bowie. Not sure on a middle name yet.
I wanted a meaningful name and I couldn't come up with anything meaningful that sounded girly, until I thought of Bowie. Then it stuck because I like Tim Tebow (as a person!) and OSU's president E. Gordon Gee wears bow ties. #perf
For the most part she's been a pretty good kitten.
The first week we went through some diarrhea issues, but the vet fixed that with expensive cat food.
Her first week or so she was super cuddly and slept a lot. I liked that. Now she's like a crazy woman and runs around all the time. I mean, hopping like a rabbit sideways and running in to walls cause she won't slow down in time to stop.
She also scratches me and bites me! It's so annoying. I know she's just trying to play, but gheesh girl, learn some manners.
She's been excellent at using the litter box! I'm so thankful for that. And she eats well too. I'm afraid I'm not feeding her enough because she's only gained .4 lbs in two weeks, but I feed her 3-4 times a day and at night she gets wet cat food mixed in with her dry food so it fills her little belly up and she doesn't wake me up at 4 am crying to be fed.
Bowie doesn't sleep with me. I've tried it a few times and every time I think it's going good, I wake up to her staring me in the face and those dang whiskers just brushing my cheeks. Then she proceeds to sit on my neck and scratch me until I get up. She thinks she's getting fed, but really she's just getting locked in the bathroom. Sorry girl. You've got a hard life.
It's a good thing you're so darn cute, because otherwise you might be on craigslist at 4am under the 'free' category.
Just kidding. I've got too much $$$ invested in her to give her away.
